MB have pulled off a deal with Ssangyong and sold them the old in line 111 engine for their 11 seat SV320 people carrier.

The road test made me laugh in the Bangkok Post, where it said that even if you have your own oil field it will soon empty it

not up, on these things are they a bad engine??? regards jon

No not a bad engine, it was dropped 10 years ago when the 112 V6 came out, and it seamed odd that a new car manufacturer would want to buy it
The 111 is a 4 cylinder engine, as found in the C230k among others and is actually a very good engine. It was probably dropped in 2002ish when the W203 swapped that engine for the mitsubishi-sourced 4cyls.

Sorry my head is not 100% again as yet, I got the number wrong on the engine, It is a straight 6 so it must be the 104

I was thinking that it was brave of Ssangyong to bore/stroke the ol' 4cyl to 3.2 litres but they're clever in South Korea!

Of course this isn't the first thing MB have sold to Ssangyong, the Musso is based on the 163 ML and the Chairman is based on the 124 (or 140 depending on who tells the story).

OMG! look at the state of that!
