MB Specialist

For COMAND issues, audio upgrades, and other retrofits:

For service and repairs:

All three are official forums sponsors and highly recommend. And they all have STAR.

Thasnks E55BOF. I have a CLK 200, it making a noise when driving, similar to a bad driveshaft. But the car is back wheel drive. the noise started when turning right, but now it appears to be there most of the time.
Alan

Thanks for this however, I live in surrey, do you know of any around here.Alan

I don't, other might do, but just keep in mind that having to travel a bit for an exceptional specialist is not uncommon among Merc owners.

PS - there's also MB Brooklands in Weybridge, I do recommend them for Service Care Plan, but for repairs you will obviously prefer a non-franchised garage.

If it's a ticking noise from under the car, it could be the parking brake strap coming loose and hitting the drive shaft, this is a common issue and 10 minute fix (once you are under the car).

If it's a grinding noise from the front (either side), it could be a wheel bearing, about half hour labour plus parts.

Many thanks, yes few mileage is not uncommon and understood. I just need a good MB specialist. I have a CLK 200 on 09 plate.Alan

On another note.... your CLK 200 will have the M271 engine (4-Cyl petrol). These engines are prone to premature timing gear failure. I would ask the specialist to remove the cam cover and inspect the camshaft sprocket wheels for wear. An unexpected failure could be very expensive.

I've taken it to two garages but they were unable to solved issue. it appeared to start when turning right, not now seems to be on straight too.

We are quite keen about our cars on here. I'm also from Surrey and take my car down to Horndean for Prestige Car Service to sort out any issues and service my car :D

They can provide you a courtesy car for free as long as you refuel after use. We tend to do a day out in Gunwharf Quays to make the most of it. I'm lucky in that my wife is quite frugal but it could be an expensive day out if you or your other half are keen on brand labels ;)

Does this help?

Ah, sounds drastic. surely thid would come up on the dash

When it does..... it's too late :(

You want to catch it before .

Google "M271 timing failure", its all there.

Thanks for that, however it does not make noise when stable, only when driving

No, I don't think that what you described is related to the M271 timing gear (hence why I said 'on another note'...). They don't all go pop, obviously, it's just a word of caution... too many people with M271 engines came and went on here.... better safe than sorry.
