I have just replaced the bonnet star for the second time and am getting p****d off with it. My local stealership tell me that there is no alternative to replacing the star, with for instance, a flat badge. Is this true and is there a solution to my little problem?

You might be able to get the g-wagen badge to fit from my ghetto badge thread, but I don't know much about the pre-facelift w124 badge and according to the EPC it has a badge unique to the w124

hi there

all i did was buy a radiator badge for £3 and place it over the hole. i placed a flat metal strip (with a hole in it) on the other side of the bonnet and fixed the two together with a nyloc nut.

so now i have an old faded rad. badge and a brand spanking new rad. badge beside each other........but no hole and no broken star !

cheers

sebastian.

Thanks for the tip Sebastian. I'll try it over the Easter weekend and report back. It sounds exactly what I was looking for.

A2018800088 : EMBLEM : EUR 4.79

for that price you could buy two new ones and spend some time polishing the chrome on the grill as well, would look great! :)

Wire the star up to one of those battery powered electrocutors devices , next time the little scroats try and take it.. a little bit of shock never hurt anyone ;)

I accept no responsibility for any fried vandals as a result of this

I'll just add my avatar to this thread :D

Now there is an idea. Have you seen that lightning reaction game from next  Dismantle and rewire connecting to badge. I feel a little project coming on. :D
