Facelift W211
Just got a call from my dealer that my 57 E220CDI needs a replacement part due a recall issued 2-3 weeks ago.

Anyone had this too?

Booked in tomorrow, yet again.

have they said what work needs doing? Is it engine specific or general to all W211's?

Just don't understand a recall on a four year old car. Is it me or just a bit delayed.

Depends on the problem - nature, when it became apparent, and the consequences.

Fair point , just would have expected a letter explaining the details. Credit to the dealer for leaving a message on phone and mobile today and booking me in tomorrow. Just wish the recall was done before purchasing the car and the rust which was sorted because the PDI missed it.

Well that was a waste of time. Get down the dealers at ten and told at 11.00 after waiting for an hour that it was a mistake. Part not needed.

Yet another astounding Mercedes-Benz customer relations triumph. :wallbash:

Very true, that's why I left the BMW camp. What I have foundthese days is that if you buy a prestige brand in the UK you don't get the service to match. Maybe those days have gone or am being a dreamer.

Really? They did quickly wash it for me although I did lose an hour of work.

You have lost an hour of your valuable time at a busy time of year due to their incompetence, damn right I'd be straight on their case. Tell them you'll quite happily settle for the equivilant of what they charge for an hours labour.

Shy kids get nowt

^ Very true

Did the dealer explain how the mistake was made? Was it a recall that had already been completed on the car, incorrect car details held be them, mistake/incomepetence on their part etc?

They were very vague and the person who ordered the part and booked it in was off yesterday.

I asked the service desk and the chap who took the keys, both didn't know why it was recalled.

I asked the service desk to come back with the details but as yet no phone call.

On another note went to the parts desk to get some details for me , chap said he cant access the computer but would call me back in an hour and that never happened either.

I just got the impression they were in holiday mode and didnt want to be there.

CrimboLimbo time as Craig Charles calls it.
