Just visiting some old haunts today in Woking Surrey and saw 2 x SLR's uk registered badged as proto-types, one had a black front end and silver rear and the other was all silver, it was at their old workshops on the Woking trading estate, one of the engineers had the multi-coloured one running with the doors open, it sounded awesome, I cheekily asked for a closer look inside, what a car, then they lifted the bonnet which actually lifts like the old Saabs, where as it hinges forwards first across the front then tilts up.

To see 1/2 a million just sat in a car park was amazing and the first SLR's that I have seen in the flesh. a funny thing though, parked nearby was a new 355 and the SLR's made it look like your regular Mondeo!!!

It made my day.... Gutted though as I keep a disposable camera in my glove box, so I hastily went to take pics only to find that my gorgeous loving kids had left it empty probably with pics of the footwell......

I regularly drive in that area too and various SLR's are often around. Mostly they have German plates on them. There is one flash git at the kids school with one! Sounds fantastic as he roars away in it.

If you want to see one, just sit on the grass verge outside their new headquarters on the A320 between Woking and Ottershaw and one or more will pass by. Chances are you will see someone out on a test drive.

There are an awful lot of new Mercedes cars going into the new headquarters each morning. I quite often see Ron Dennis in a Black SL55, crawling along in the traffic with everyone else!
