Does anyone know if you can get replacement externals for the keys, our one has broken so when you unclip the key from the fob it doesnt stay together?

I have seen complete second hand keys on ebay but they would require coding:rolleyes:

The keys on Ebay are a waste of money .... they can't be recoded , despite what the sellers say ....

Don't think you can get externals, you have to order a new key , £100+ please sir ....

I dont need the blade, I just need the plastic outer with buttons etc

Yoy do need to get the correct one with either 2 or 4 batteries.

3 sides can be cut with a hot scalpel knife, the case will then open, and the PCB lifted out.

The case can be re sealed with plumbers pipe solvent, taking care not to get it on the outside of the case.

Maybe this is too hard if you are not used to it.

I used to do this for people but I have now stopped.

The DAS key (non flip out) you can take the end off and slide the PCB out.

I offered to do one for a member elsewhere where the guy had re soldered the PCB, have put too much solder on it was too tight in the tracks and cannot be removed

I was thinking you could just prise them apart, or unscrew them?, if not I wont bother doing all that:crazy:

I am assuming you have the key without the flip out key, just the electronic key.

If so, buy any key on ebay which is similar to yours and simply swap the electronics. To do this you have to remove the metal key and take off the cover as if you were changing a battery. Then take a pair of small nose pliers, grip the circuit board on one side and the white piece of plastic on the other side and just jig it around until it come loose. I did this with mine so I could have the key with the boot open button on it as the c-class coupe can actually do that but they dont give you the 3 button key for it for some reason.

The post above is correct you can remove the inards with pliars.

I have recently done this and it works fine. The pcb is held in place by a small breakable plastic clip/wedge/triangle tha needs pressing. Once pressed the pcb will pull out.

These are the DAS keys where it is easy to change the case

Thats the one, is the pc board within the battery bit?

OK thats easy take out the battery, use the end of the key to de press the white battery lock towards the side, and put your finger nail in between the end and the case and it all slides out. you will see the PCB this just slides out.

When pulling out the PCB only pull from the very end.

Once again this shows how a picture is worth more than a 1000 words

I believe it is, you can always open it to see if the tactile switch is there

That'll have to remain a mystery as I've discovered that there's nothing to grip or lever in order to remove the board. :(
