Merc ownership -longest?

Do I get the Wooden Spoon for owning my first Merc since last month...?

We have had our W123 since 1982.
I officially owned it on my 17th birthday although my father bought the car just before I was born.

You trying to kid us your 26?..We've seen the bald patch Jay..:D

I have a friend whose mum has a W124 200, she bought new.

It's not an E200, just a 200, from 1985

Hard work being flat out drunk, hey..

to be fair there was a lot of that... that was the lifestyle... work yourself silly from 8am non stop until late into evenings and then go out and get merry at least 2-3 nights a week.

there was always something to go out and celebrate... someone leaving, birthdays etc... with staff turnover one of the largest of any industry, there is always either someone joining/transferring/leaving and so its only right to have a drink or two with them.

I used to spend more on going out either at lunch or in the evenings than on my mortgage...

yep I am... the bald patch is from working in the city for four years!

I worked in the city for two, and I'm not bald!

Mind you, I am rather grey distinguished looking

maybe genetics has a little to do with it

My mum was white-haired by the time she was 25. And she didn't work in the city.

And I actually worked for a distribution company near Kings Cross, so not in the city as such

Almost six years in the city turned me grey, and almost six weeks at Canary Wharf turned me off commuting to London alltogether!!

Seems to be a theme here..

I'm going grey - worked in the City for 4 years, now do the same thing in Liverpool and love every second of it !

Mind you it's only been 13 years so not bored yet.

Not me but my dad (who introduced me to Mercedes) bought his first one, a 170 iirc, while on national Service in Germany in 1952.

From that point on he stuck to the marque until he retired and we had them throughout my childhood.

He now drives a Skoda
