Hi All,

Just brought my first MB 500 SEC (1986).

The car needs to be lowered ASAP with some sutiable RIMS, can anyone suggest a decent set of wheels and possible suspension...

Also, knowing where I can buy these would be good!

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Raj

Go for 18" + deep dish Rims from the 90's era they suite this model ie BBS,Lorinser,AMG,Atev etc anything else looks out of place in those arches, you do compromise some of the ride quality but not enough to worry about . Finding a set is another thing, unless you have the cheese for a new set it will be a case of scouring the net till you come across some. The Rear rims should be a deeper offset, gives a stunning look.

Hi Guys,

Sounds Interesting, what about suspension?

Need to get the car lowered ASAP!

Any well known places or websites I can order this from specific for the 500 SEC.

Also, what is the W Code on the mercedes? eg: W124.

This series is the W126 . A 1986 is an early Generation 2 model ( just after the facelift ) .

I'd get to know the car as it is first , before rushing into modifications .

With everything as it should be , they actually handle very well , and there isn't a lot of ground clearance , so I'd beware of lowering if there are a lot of speed bumps where you drive . A new exhaust system will set you back in the region of £1K , so is pricey to rip off at every speed bump you go over .

Now if that's not an emergency, I don't know what is :)

Here's a go cobber......

Take Pontoneer's advice ! Get to know your SEC first before throwing money at modifications. Make sure it's a sound car first with no major rust, leaks or engine issues.

Do you know any good cheap suppliers?

Also any recommended fitters?

Google for suppliers or talk to Oliver Stoner at PCS and on this forum. He has fitted a number of B12 kits and, as I understand it, thinks highly of them.

I think I got mine from here:

Performance Car Parts / EBC Brakes / Eibach Lowering Springs / Koni Suspension Kits / Magnex Exhausts / Powertec Induction Kits - Euro Performance
