C200 W202
Hello there

I was hoping to get an idea of the value for our Mercedes C200 Elegance Petrol W202 With the following spec:

VOSA verified mileage 29.000
Paint Metallic red
Full service history
Full cream leather
Heated driver and passenger seats
Full electric driver and passenger seats
Air con
Cruise control
Traction control
5 speed Tiptronic g/box
Remote central locking

I'm not a dealer, the car belongs to a family member who purchased the car from new in 2000 aged 76 and has now decided at the age of 91 to give up driving. As you will have gathered from the mileage the car has been used very sparingly and always garaged. I'm sure it's as close to a new W202 as you could find. I will get some photos over the weekend and add to the post.

It's not officially for sale yet but if it's of interest drop me a reply.

Many thanks
Paul

One sold recently by Nutley Sports and Prestige cars. That was a C180 Elegance with only 3000 miles on the clock, I think they were asking around £9000 for it. It sold pretty quickly. As a private sale I don't think you will get anywhere near that but all depends on condition and service history. Most "ordinary" 202s are around £1000 so maybe £3000 is realistic if its exceptional.

I might be interested in purchasing this car, depending upon location and actual condition. I'm a fan of the 202. These are underrated in my opinion and I'd be prepared to make a fair offer for it. I'm not a dealer and would simply be looking to use it for myself.

As a guideline I bought my dad, a Met Grey, 1999 on a T, C200 elegance with cloth, AC and cruise with a verified 37,000 last July...

Needless to say, the car is immaculate and condition reflects the limited usage..

We handed over £2300 for it, which seemed like alot for W202 when the vast majority of them were priced below £1500 and a £1000, but the alternative at that price would have been a rough early W203....errr no thanks.

Your one has even lower miles and is very well specced, so something north of £3000 seems reasonable...... but what a car for someone at 3 bags!... Look after it and it'll last forever.

As above. My current 202 c200 was purchased by my mate around 7 years ago for around 2.8k with around 28k miles full history & original sales invoice etc. I bought it off him last year with 68k miles and paid £1800. It's a lovely car and although I've spent around £300 getting it sorted I now have a car which will last as long as I wish to keep it. It gets comments wherever I go. I'd still consider the op's car though at £3k and then maybe someone could benefit from my current one.

These really low mileage and (dare I say it?) poverty spec W202's C200's do crop up from time to time and boy do they combine old school Merc quality and reliabilty with very sensible running costs all in a very elegant package....

Have now decided to sell the C200. Still has 29.000 miles, essentially a 1 owner vehicle.

Aug 16 MOT no advisories.

If Grahamcol or anyone else interested in the car would like to drop me a mail with your contact number I'll get in touch. [email protected]

Many thanks

The car in the OP can hardly be described as poverty spec though

Any pictures ?

What part of the country is this in ?

Is this the same car that was a non-runner as in OP's previous posts?

Sounds as if its a perfectly sound W202 which has a few minor electrical problems that need sorting out. Fuel system might need a clean out also, maybe a new set of tyres- battery- exhaust- but at the right price an excellent purchase. For the seller--- you will maximise your price by making sure its a reliable runner. :thumb:

Maybe made a slight error on describing the ownershipm of the car before? It would be a remarkable coincidence if it were not the same car...

Both bought new by a guy in his 70s. One is a family member who still owns his the other is owned by the OP and bought for his wife but is SORN.

Perhaps someone is being a wee bit ungenerous with the true facts.

Thank you for your replies/interest.

I purchased the car from a family member who gave up driving aged 91, it was meant for my wife who only drives auto's. She thinks it's too big.( ?? )

It's now just sat in the garage and I have another project that needs the space.

Yes it's the same car in both posts, the electrical fault ( wouldn't start ) was self inflicted I'm embarrassed to say. The battery went flat, I put the battery on charge but the charger didn't work, it had a blade type fuse on the charger so I borrowed what I thought was a spare from the boot of the Merc, it turned out to be the fuel pump fuse ( DOH! ) car runs perfect. Because of this saga It's had 2 new batts in both key fobs and a new Bosch battery on the car, not to mention the mobile auto electrician.

There is no service history this has been lost, but the 29K is genuine and VOSA verified. Any inspection welcome, you can see for yourself it's been cherished, always been garaged, no rust anywhere and amber gold engine oil.

Trying to upload some photos below, if you are interested I can send more via email.

Looking for offers above 3.5K, it's as close to a new C200 you could find, really is a beautiful and genuine car.

We are in Chesterfield Derbyshire, 5 min from J29 of the M1 motorway.

Given up on attaching photos !!! Any help to do that appreciated, otherwise let me have your email and I'll mail some over.

Thanks
