Hi, does anyone here have any experience in replacing the 12V battery in a MB C350e? I think mine needs replacing and I don’t want to get it fixed at the dealer.

Why would you ask dealer to replace a battery?

Or a tyre?

Wonder if the OP has Mobilo cover and what the T&Cs would be for buying a replacement battery as a result of a breakdown (or other issue resulting in a call)? :)

Apparently, it’s complicated to replace a 12v battery on the W205 C350e because of the hybrid stuff

What makes you think replacing a 12v battery is beyond the abilities of an independent Mercedes specialist? (Who will typically charge half the price of a main dealer)

Or even any garage service specialist, such as Kwikfit or Halfords?

You can certainly do it yourself. I did mine myself 2 times and I’m not a pro. Just don’t damage the coolant pipes and sensors for hybrid and stay away from the orange cables.

That YouTube video above was my guidance.

2 men job though

Try giving it a good charge before you fight it off. After 4 or 5 months of short, wet and dark journeys even a healthy battery will need a quick charge to keep it at i/ best this time of year. Mind save you a fortune and avoid another early death for a serviceable battery.

Non of them replace the battery due to being a hybrid car.
Pardon?

Hybrids have 12 volt batteries separate from the hybrid battery power source. It starts the car and runs the consumer electronics.

What I was saying is that no garage like Halfords od Quickfit replace 12 v battery on a hybrid due to the high voltage cables. Especially on c350e were the high voltage cables run alongside the 12v battery.

OK. As Bobby’s already said, have you put a CTEK on it to recondition the existing 12v battery rather than replace?

And if Halfords have refused to fit a 12v battery, have you asked an MB specialist, who will typically charge half the main dealer price?
