Mercedes E250 Petrol 2012 - what are these fluid tanks?

You could buy your own code reader for a lot less than that diagnostic fee or go to an MB specialist
I’d like to buy a code reader but does it have to be a certain level, surely the cheap £25 ones I’ve seen can’t read MB codes can they? ( happy to be proved wrong haha)

Are you joking? Windscreen washer fluid?

Thank you for ⁶that link much appreciated I will refer to it first when I have a question it looks very helpful.
I only just today filled up the windscreen washer fluid with some I had spare in my shed, it was a ready mixed formula from Halfords, only opened about 5 months ago and the car took about 3-4 litres of it I was surprised as it must’ve been quite empty.. not sure of the reservoirs capacity.

Does this E Class C207 have a sensor detecting low windscreen washer fluid then?
None of my previous cars have had this, 🤣
I wish I was joking :), but I can only go on my experience.

A friend (experienced engineer) had a new Volvo and had problems with the screenwasher sensor throwing up dash warning lights, which the dealer couldn't resolve initially. He'd used a generic screenwash. Eventually, after a system flush and Volvo screenwash, problem didn't reappear.

I spent ages removing a rear roof spoiler and rear wash set up on a relative's car after the washer nozzle became blocked due to the fluid crystallizing - it took me hours and was a real pain, so I remember it well. Despite my 'advice', they'd not used the specified fluid and used a supermarket ready-mixed and, possibly due to limited use, it crystallized in the supply pipe and nozzle. Cleaning it wasn't difficult, just time consuming. Crystallizing can also cause rarely-used headlight washers to block.

Of course, regular use of the washers might prevent a problem, but as I have a few cars, some don't go out in the wet, so less use of washers, so I might be more conscious of it.

I remember when life was easy and we didn't have hundreds of different specs for oil etc. and I still have loads of generic washer fluid in the garage but I only use it on the older cars, with simple systems.

I don't think your car has a level sensor but it will have headlamp washers, as it looks like a Sport with the ILS. I think they're good cars, I've had my 350 (265) coupé (from new) for 12-years, the longest I've kept anything other than a classic or sports. I specced it as I wanted it and have just hung on to it, no idea what to replace it with.

I have a Foxwel NT530 that came with the Mercedes software installed, great unit but not cheap !! i bought mine from the UK supplier so it has full back up and support, cheaper on ebay but don't think they are genuine UK models and no backup.

Absolute minimum (IMHO) for any MB owner would be an MB iCarsoft scan tool , they often pop on here used for sale. But pretty cheap new. If you do look for one , be aware copies (fake) ones exist and will not take the free upgrades offered.

I just gave mine away and am currently sniffing around for a new scan tool +/- £400 is my DIY budget .

I had a quick read of the manual and found out that the headlight washer only comes on on the 5th squirt of the windscreen washers, and if the ignition is switched off it will rest back to zero count and start again.
I should have the wife sit inside and give it the 5 uses to verify the headlight washers come on, it would be nice to see it in action from the outside, plus it’s another first for me.

ILS - Intelligent Light System, I beloved I have this as the one time I drive it in the dark bringing it off the street to my back garden it did seem as the lights turned on the direction as I rounded a corner.. it looked pretty cool to me, again, another 1st!

I found the container I had topped up the screen wash, it was a generic one called Unipart Rain Repellant - down to minus 5. Blue in colour and thinking about it, that’s not very cold protection at all, we sometimes hit minus 5 in West London!

Thanks for the warning I will make sure I try to use the washers just before she is due a clean, which will be often as I’m OCD with cleaning cars ( can’t finish any car washing job it less than 2 hours, normally taking 3-4 if adding wax etc).

This is a 3rd car ( Peugeot estate for family stuff and an awesomely hilarious Toyota IQ for giggles) so the E250 will probably only come out on the weekend for a run.

I am dying to put a small decal on the back of the E250 that says “ I’ll have an E please Bob” but I’m not sure how it might be perceived 🤣

What colour is your E350, mine has the red leather seats which almost sold it to me on it own, and bring a 250 I find it rapid enough, the 350 must be pretty mental 👍.

Is it this one, looks like this is a UK supplier and they sell them for each brand of car, BMW, Audi etc.

Foxwell NT530 for Mercedes - £167.00

Yes and it was perfectly good for mot DIY tasks and will also read generic codes from other marques despite being 'MB' spec.

Thanks all I’ve just bought a new icarsoft V2 for Mercedes for a reasonable £126, so I can have a play around with that soon.
Strangely my front left airbag malfunction message has disappeared from the centre display screen during the weekend, I drove for a couple of hours and it was off from the get go, I am not complaining 🥳

Groan, I told myself this weekend car would be trouble free and I’d only delve in to the detailing side of things… look at me now, topping up oil, buying red leather dye, a new car scanner and will soon take all 4 wheels off to have a nosey around underneath 🤣

Maybe it will come updated already, I’ll report back if I need any help cheers.

Maybe it will come updated already,

I recently bought, for about 300€, this:

It's no use for our 1990s MBs but did a great job on a Renault. High hopes also for wife's Yaris, daughter's Kia and others.

So, not cheap, but did the job.

On day one I installed all the updates from the world's slowest server but it worked. And included all updates for Rollers, Bentleys and Bugattis - not much call for those around here.
