That's a good point. Mine requires a mobile tethered for internet. So maybe I can plot a destination on my phone - but only if I'm right next to the car (and maybe the ignition needs to be on too?)

That's not what I meant...
Because the car does not have an Internet connection when I (and the phone) are away from it, the way to do this is by sending the location from my PC to a Mercedes Benz server, then going to the car and downloading the location to COMAND (import personal POI).
But I am thinking that perhaps on cars with built-in Simcard and permanent Internet connection, it might be possible to send the location directly to the car at all times - I do not know.
Also, I am only referring to sending a location to the car, and not to sending an entire route - sending routes was a feature of Google Maps, but as far as I know Google removed this feature recently so route sending is no longer possible.
