Mercedes Me

That's a good point. Mine requires a mobile tethered for internet. So maybe I can plot a destination on my phone - but only if I'm right next to the car (and maybe the ignition needs to be on too?)
In which case, not terribly useful.

That's not what I meant...

Because the car does not have an Internet connection when I (and the phone) are away from it, the way to do this is by sending the location from my PC to a Mercedes Benz server, then going to the car and downloading the location to COMAND (import personal POI).

But I am thinking that perhaps on cars with built-in Simcard and permanent Internet connection, it might be possible to send the location directly to the car at all times - I do not know.

Also, I am only referring to sending a location to the car, and not to sending an entire route - sending routes was a feature of Google Maps, but as far as I know Google removed this feature recently so route sending is no longer possible.

Best perhaps described as a work in progress, Mercedes Me facilities would appear to vary from Model to Model and country to country. Their development seems to be market driven where offerings from rival car manufacturers are needed to prompt their inclusion in the latest Mercedes systems. On that basis I would guess their best implemenations are to be found in models destined for the domestic Germany market and the USA [ where they may have a better handle on /access to available telecommunication protocols in those countries]

On my 2013 W204 it works through here.com, but only from a PC (i.e. it does not work from the mobile phone app).

Said that, my COMAND Online is of the older type where the Internet connection is achieved via tethering to my mobile phone.

Later W204 cars (from around mid-2013) had the communication module fitted with built-in Simcard, so the method might be different for these later cars, I do not know.

Just tried https://wego.here.com but when sending to car using VIN it comes up with an error - Sorry. There's a problem at our end. Please try again later.

I suppose all this internet & mobile technology is all still a bit new, we are probably expecting a bit too much!:wallbash:

This usually works fine for me, though last time I actually did this was a couple of weeks ago. Will try later today to see if it's still working for me.

Markjay, You may have highlighted the reason Mercedes me is no longer sending Locations from the Mercedes Me App, as far as I can tell the Locations are shown and selected using Google Maps! :wallbash:
