Mercedes ml 270 - BMW330d
Ok im new to this page so hello all and merry Christmas, iv just bought a 2000 ml270 that been very well looked after and has done 108,000mls. its only going to be used as winter hack if required but if driven quite hard it come up with error codes 147 (gear implausible or slipping) and 146 (inadmissible trans speed i think) i cleared both codes with my diagnostic and when i went for another test drive and pushed it a little the code 147 came up, it is ok in 1st 2nd and 3rd but i have to back off the throttle slightly or it wont go into 4th if under load. iv changed the transmission oil and filter iv read it could be a solenoid valve which i think you can check by giving them 12v and listening for a click and resistance check of 5.4 ohms (but i may be wrong pls correct if i am) it had a new conductor plate by the previous owner around 3 months ago, il put on my work ramp on tuesday and check for any obvious leaks (but crawled under and couldn't see anything) but would appreciate any advice from anybody whos had similar problems, the transmission itself looks quite straight forward so will strip it down and rebuild myself if i have to cheers Pete

Nobody? Iv even tried looking through other threads but only one has very similar problems to mine, i really want it running perfect apart from the trans issue its in unbelibably good condition

I can't help sorry. You really want somebody like Olly at PCS in Horndean to respond. Or it may be that you have answered your own post and it a strip down and re-build. This will keep your post at the top ;^)

I had a false neutral today so am starting to think its a rebuild job iv orderd a workshop manaul and after a bit of searching have found a rebuild kit including torque converter clutches and seals for £300 the trans doesnt look that bad to rebuild to be fair and with a recon unit quote of £1100 i think the diy is the way to go, i worked for john deere and it looks alot easier repair than a tractor box i can honeslty say il hopefully put pictures up of the tair down and and problems i encouter along the way

Good luck. Not sure why there no replies. Possibly not so many members that have tese trucks or maybe they just don't fail with the gearbox that often. If the latter is correct them your offer of pics is most welcome as others will benefit. Thank you.
