Well they have just lost my business!
Went in about 2 weeks ago for a blown headlight qouted £92 and went to fit it, they came back and said not the bulb, you will have to book it in for diagnostic and repair....£75 for diagnostic:eek:
The Missus took the car in today, got a phone call to say all done £157 please, what was wrong I ask.....oh it was the bulb:mad:
So rang and played hell with the service manager who agreed that this was not on, he also said that he was new and had seen a lot of this going on and was trying to sort it out:mad: He discounted the Diagnostic charge and the bulb. End Bill £82 and one wasted day for the Missus(Well more money gone from my bank as she went shopping whilst it was being done:crazy:)
Upshot, will never use them again, there is an indie close by who is highly recommended and will be getting my custom from now on!

Is changing a headlight bulb not a DIY job on your car?
I presume it's not a standard bulb as they're £10-£20 normally?

That's some admission!

Took my 126 in for it's MOT yesterday, it too needed a bulb, (only thing it needed). Eighty-seven pence!! :D:D

:mad:You can imagine what the Missus has been saying, I mean she even went so far as to say that next time we would be getting a Sk**a:o
Luckily she has no choice when it comes to my cars:D

Staithes uses parts from there and as you're coming down the A1 hes probably quicker to get to.

And cheaper and more interested and more helpful......

Well i remember taking my car in for a service probably 4 years back to Mercedes Benz at Sunderland.. I'd taken the front side lamp bulb out of mine but never got the chance to replace it a couple of weeks before the service.. I remember giving the girl the bulb in reception & asking them to replace it... An expensive mistake...got billed 20mins labour at £80/hr at the time & overcharged for the bulb..What a rip off

I think this just depends on the dealer...

My dealer - I went in and bought wiper blades....puzzled how to fit them as they were different to what I was used to..so went back in and asked are they the right ones..

Guy came out and fitted them of me for free...

Wanted to change my wheel centres without ruining the old ones..so when I was having two new tyres fitted...by the dealer at a match the best price I could find...they fitted all four which entailed taking off the front wheels to do that ...........no charge.
