Mileage after service

I have just had an oil service at an MB main dealer and driven about 45 miles, the next service indicator says service due in 9291 miles.

I thought that it was supposed to be 10,000 miles between services or 12 months.

Can anyone advise?

It is not an exact science... if you did the 45 miles on very short journeys with lots on engines starts, then the remaining mileage will start flying down...

The 10k or 1-year is a worst-case scenario, i.e. this is when you should service the car unless the instrument panel tells you that a service is due before that.
