Folks,

Someone knocked my passenger side mirror causing it to fold in. There was very little damage and the mirror works fine (folding in and out). What I have noticed is that the LED's are not flashing on both sides now no matter what I try.

Question is, could the knock have caused this to happen? Or have I just not noticed it unitil now?

Find it strange that both would stop working. You probably never noticed it before.

On some of the older cars the wires in the indicator housing can get worn and break as mirrors fold in and out over time. This effects the indicators normally. But like i said, unlikely both went at the same time.

Not sure if yours is similiar but when you remove the mirror cover on mine the plug for the indicator stays on the mirror frame and the indicator comes of with cover so maybe the connection has just parted.
Remove cover and have a look:)

I'll have a look at the connector this weekend.

A friend of mine hooked up his Star machine to my car a couple of weeks ago and had a go at activating auto-folding mirrors. My car doesn't have the right modules for this to work so he set everything back. Wondering if maybe he turned the indicators off in Star by mistake. Is this possible?

Doubt it had anything to do with STAR as the wing mirror indicators are standard and cannot be activated/deactivated regardless to folding wing mirror option.

Must be due to this guy hitting my car!

I'll post some pics of the incident when I get a chance.

A loose connector on one of the Indicators shouldn't stop both working.

I had a broken wire on a 2003 W211 Merc that i used to have which stopped the indicator working, but that was only on the one side. The other indicator still worked fine.

....do you get indicator relays on these things? if so, have they been checked?

Good point, is there a fuse for the indicators that may have blown?

No idea, might be a start to pull out your paper listing Fuses used. I think this is located on the drivers side near the Air Vent when you open the door.

Just ring up Merc and ask to talk to one of the Service Technicians.
Tell receptionist that you need to ask a technical question.

They should be able to tell you if W203's have fuses for the indicators, relays or both.

...nothing to lose by asking :)

Checked the fuse list sheet - turn signals fuse is listed as electronic, so seems like they done have a physical fuse...
