ml 270 cdi auto gearbox problems!

Hi, problems started when the auto gearbox went into safe mode, stuck in one particular gear. After turning the engine off and on again. It would work for a while then the problem happened again. Changed to a new battery, it worked for a while, then the problem came back. Its permanently stuck in one particular gear. Wont kick down or up but reverse and neutral works.

Any ideas? Thanks

The first thing to do is to have a diagnostic check with a Star done. It maybe a battery issue, speed sensor, ATF level etc.

The vehicle is grounded due to no mot and blown 2nd injector.

Is this a dealer diagnostics or can main garages do a diagnostics?

The heavy duty battery is brand new.

What are the main faults on these gearboxes? Thanks again.

It needs a star really. Any decent independent specialist or dealer can plug it in.

Common faults are a speed sensor, lack of fluid, battery voltage or a knackered gearbox

Also gearbox electrics plug leaking oil into the loom, then making its way into the Ecu.
