Car misfires but no fault codes???
Its a 2007 Model with 42k miles on the clock.
Changed spark plugs £200... no change
Replaced Gerabox filter and oil £424... no change

problem more pronounced when driving below 30 mph feels like gears are slipping MB dealer finds... fault code 0730 after (3 attempts)

According to MB Dealer it needs a K1 Clutch repair... part costs £400 with labour of £2400... Dealer suggest go for new gearbox @ £3,800 all inclusive!...

Not sure why I need a GEARBOX ...

Love the car but lost for a solution

Are you sure it is a misfire and not drivetrain judder? Misfires usually throw a specific fault code.

You could ask a local automatic transmission specialist to take a look and quote. At 5 years old and low mileage I would hope MB would consider a goodwill payment towards the cost, does the car have full MB history?

This does sound more like a gearbox issue.

Why don't you have it re-built by a gearbox specialist.

Hey mate hope you are well, havent seen you for a while!

Try Ollie at PCS...........or he might be along soon on the forum

Could be... I'm not 100% I'm trying to describe as best I can.
I told MB that I am coming to collect the car back... NOW They want to try get Goodwill from MB...

Service has been with MB apart from the last 2 :-(... but have used MB parts

Whereabouts are you?

I used this company in Reading for the auto box our Audi, referred there by a main dealer:

Three D Transmissions

Gearbox is still good 4 years later.

Hiya, I can get to Reading... I'm based in East London.
Thanks

Thanks Bill... I have called 3D and will figure out a way/time to get the car to them to check out!

Automatic Transmissions
144 Hornchurch Road
Hornchurch
Essex RM11 1QH

Serviced both my gboxes , been there donkeys

All sorted on the car...
Mercedes put in a new gearbox...which I believe also included a K1 clutch...
they offered Goodwill and it cost me £1,490 all inclusive.
not the best service but I believe thats a good price from a main dealer and now have 2years warranty on the damn thing.
Thanks for all your responses... On with the upgrades to the car now!

Did I say all sorted??? Oh Man...

Not even a year later I am having the same problem again! Now Mercedes are telling me that I need a new Torque Converter... Spoke to a Gearbox specialist and I'm told that a new Torque converter should have been fitted when they replaced the gearbox as fault can't be diagnosed easily with those... When the dealer contacted MB Germany for assistance they were asked if a Torque Converter was fitted when the Gearbox was replaced...NO it wasn't as all the dealer kept harping about was the fact that a K1 clutch would be good to have seeing as its part of the gearbox.
Now the dealer wants £2800.00 to replace a Torque Converter!!! WTH???

Should a Torque Converter have been replaced when the gearbox was repaired???

A new auto box should never be connected to the torque converter that was taken off a faulty gearbox. If the torque converter previously had an internal fault then they transferred the fault to the new gearbox. Mercedes need their **** kicked for that one.
