Hi everyone, i need some help. Im trying to remove the wiper arms on a ML320, X 2000.

Im having difficulties and am not sure what the trick is to get them off. I need to remove the black trim underneath it to get to the drain as it blocked and water flows into the car when it rains heavily, this is similar to the W202 problem where the drain gets blocked and fills up until it starts pouring into the cabin under the glove compartment! Ive done this fix before on my W202.

Is the drain similar on this car as well? Its my friends car and he tells me water comes in on the driver side footwell.....any experience anyone? So my problem is i cant get the wipers off!

Thanks in advance guys:)

The wiper arms can get very tightly seated on the tapered spindle splines.....you just have to keep flexing the arms 'till they break free from the splines. Try wd40.

As it is raining and no one else has answered, the cap at the fixed end of the wiper arm lifts up, you can then remove the nut. try and lift the arm off in the forward position and try and not hit the windscreen.

Detach the rubber seal from the fire wall.
Remove the metal clips 6 off.
unscrew th 2 nuts on top.
Seal off the washer fluid hose at the check valve
remove the cover complete with water deflector panel

And thats it :):)

Ive done all this but cant actually lift the wiper off and as panason1c has mentioned they are very tightly seated and i didnt want to force anything until i knew the method!

Its been very hot here today and not a sign of any rain, but if you knew how its done why would you not answer me!!!:(

Malcolm i was going to pm as i knew you would know but as youre very popular your inbox is full and i couldnt pm u!

Thanks again

Thanks Bazzle, havent been on Benzworld for a while, hows Oberoi?

They are best take off lifting the wiper arm forward, and by holding the arm where it bolts on, use a rocking motion, by this I do not mean twisting on the spline shaft, but a rocking up and down movement across the shaft.

I have had to use a blunt thick lever before now under the arm fixing point

I do once again mention that only pull from the base as I have seen many a windscreen cracked when they do come off

Re the PM box full, I have deleted more than 50 messages telling me that its full.
