ML250 limp mode

Guys,

Father in laws ML250 (2013) today went in to limp mode.

Odd thing is he said he was driving at 75ish on the motorway, the ESP light followed by ESP inactive warning message.

At that point he said the car jolted and the engine warning light came on. He said no matter how hard he pressed the throttle the car came to a mere crawl in the hard shoulder.

He turned it off and on and like magic back to normal. Engine light still on but everything functions as normal.

Could this be something expensive? ?

If 2013 registered it should still just about be covered under warranty as it is early 2016?

Difficult to say what issue is without plugging into Star for fault code.

Had it checked and told nothing more than a sensor glitch and all is ok.
