Multiple thread I know but not sure where to put this question as it could be anything until solved.
Hi, I recently bought a 2003 ML270 (in Germany as only use it there) 97000km. It had a vibration when going through speed 130 to 140kmph which I thought would be rear wheel imbalance as the steering was not affected. I've had new tyres fitted to the front and the rear wheels balanced but the vibration is still there, perhaps a tad more obvious too. The strange thing is, and this is perhaps why I didn't really notice it so much before is that the vibration is more pronounced when gradually speeding up rather than kicking down to speed up. If say we gradually speed up to say 150kmph there is a pronounced vibration. But when we say floor it at say 100kmph and charge (as much as the 270 can charge!) up to say 150kmph then the vibration is almost imperceptable. Someone has suggested that perhaps the prop shaft is out of balance? Could this be true? I guess so. Any other thoughts before I take it to a MB dealer with wallet in mouth? Regards.
