Hi .have a 280 ml ..been to a indie they said timing is out ..here's the ghing in morning she takes around 10/15 turns of the key when she fires up clouds white smoke .but when started she fires up fine ?..since this she now has according to a different indie turbo issues .turn off start then runs fine ..so I'm thinking there's two possible issue ..not happy that the indie that diagnosed timing issues and a potential bill of 1500 ..is right ?

What codes if any is it throwing up?

Sounds more like glow plugs and or control unit.

If he said its timing , did he checked the CPS first ?

As Jay has said above, sounds like glow plug control unit about £100 and 30 minute fitting job
