Just won this on ebay for £22.00 plus £5.00 delivery it was 2x4 litres was this a good price and I assume it will be ok in my W202 c-class 200

Mobil 1 Super S 10W-40 is a high performance synthetic blend engine oils that exceed the latest industry performance standards required in today's gasoline and diesel automobile engines.

Yes it is. It's those Dixie horns made you though..

Don't understand your reply Sweeney

I see the title error but he does mention it twice int he description and calls it Mobil Super S.
The picture clearly show it to be Super S and the label says it is semi-synthetic oil.

I'm not sure how much Super S is retail.

It will be fine.

my dixie horns better play dixie... thats all i can say

The title is wrong (it isn't Mobil1) but the rest of the description is copied from the Mobil website. It does say "blend" several times.

The price (for 8L) is very good, even with the delivery charge.

It's an MB229.1 oil, so will be fine in your car, but don't leave it in for an extended mileage.

Thanks for the replys guys but I am not into oils as regards specs etc. I must admit I did not really digest the rest of the auction information I just saw the Mobil 1 on the auction description and in all fairness he should have changed it as it was incorrect.

As you say Rory I got it for a fair price and as long as it is ok for my car there is not a problem and I always change my oil every 5000 miles anyway.

I live in the country so delivery is not a problem as it would cost me to go to the nearest auto shop (25 miles round trip)

Opie Oils http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ is reasonable and deliver by courier - you can sign up and get a discount if you're a member of almost any forum.

I used them once for Motul MB229.5 specific oil, but now my car is on a service contact. If you have access to a Costco they're pretty cheap for Mobil 1 (£23.50 inc vat for 4L), and sell other oil in big drums for next to nothing (per litre).

I do think though, that if you're changing the oil every 5000 miles then almost any old supermarket oil would be just fine.

Super S = £23 in Halfords Brislington at the moment.

Norman - 25 miles to round trip to Downend or Staple Hill sounds a bit overkill (assume that will be your nearest car shop).

Hi Steve
I don't use Bits-a-cars or the shop in Downend or Kingswood Autoparts.

I avoid Brislington like the plague if I want to sit in my car for long periods I would rather do it on my driveway because at least I can get a cup of tea.

Bits-a-cars couldn't get a basic battery change right,Kingswood Auto parts are ignorant B------s. and the shop in Downend always too dear.

My brother lives at Patchway not far from the Mall so there's the 25 miles round trip.

Picky ain't I Steve :bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

Agreed they are all $%^& places but if it's just an in grab Oil (etc), pay, out - I'm not that picky (as long as the price is OK).

If want some chance of intelligent automotive conversation then I'd try the place on the corner of the Kingsway and the A431 (Hanham/St George) or Car Quip in Keynsham.

Yes Brislington's a pain - but it's OK before 10:00am and one hour before closing (like you say avoid like the plague at all other times) and once you've dropped onto the ring road it's quite quick. Same applies to the Mall though doesn't it.

Thanks for that Steve some useful info there.

Hows your merc going bit more meaty than mine.

Norman

Tempting fate, but all running is well here. Tyres getting a bit low - looking at 2 Falken 452s (where do you normally go?)

Good luck with the gearbox oil (unsually for me I chickened out on that took it to Parkway Automotive, too much crawling right under the car).

Your OBDII scanner post re-energised my ideas for getting a PC/Laptop interface going. OBIDI -> PC interface board arrived yesterday (£25), so I'll be soldering up some leads soon to give it bash.

Brittania tyres are good Steve good on price and the best of luck with the project.

I got my scanner just in case but I will be chuffed if I never have to use it on my car
