Mobile speed cameras not just checking speed!

What’s the bloody point in this?
Law enforcement looking in sees the belt being worn.
Surely the time it takes them to slip on the diagonal, they could have just clipped it in as per how it’s meant to be used??
It speaks of the extreme time constraints these guys are under. I call them out on it but they brush it off and disappear to make their next delivery. When you see it done as they do it - it is quicker than wearing the belt as it should be worn. It appals me too.

May I ask what car/model/year you have, please? I'm asking because I've not been in a carfor many years that does not have a seat belt reminder. Many cars over the last few years have rear passenger belt reminders as well.

Even today, an alarmingly high number of children aren’t as safely restrained as they could be. My nine-year old daughter still travels in a high back booster seat with side impact protection. Her peers only use backless boosters or nothing. Their parents all care, but clearly not as much as us.

On the odd occasion I go to pick up our grandchildren from school, the number of ill-informed, careless, carefree idiots who don't have their
children running free in cars. These people should be banned from driving on the second offence and as adults have a duty of care and as many are aware, the driver is responsible for children under 14 who travel in their car.

Like you, our oldest grandchild who has just gone 7 still sits in a seat like you mention. In my car, the child seat is in the middle as they can get a better view and more importantly, safer on the whole.

Big Brother is watching.
I'm waiting for the PCN for having an AMG badge on my Beemer and wearing a baseball cap whilst driving.
There’s no way you’ll get away with a PCN for that, I reckon you’re looking down the barrel of a 5 year stretch at least.

So the other day I gets a ticket through the door saying a mobile speed camera has clocked me not wearing a seatbelt!
I didn't know they could but there you go picture and all!
Be warned guys they can do you for anything now
Take it you're from Leeds? Whereabouts was this? 😆

I've always worn one, but many of my multi-drop van-driving buddies didn't. The only time I had to do without was when I drove the company 7.5 tonner, which wasn't fitted with them.
It felt as unnatural as going to work with no strides on.

I know. I'm ashamed of myself...hanging's too good for me :)
Not for a first offence 😄👍

I always belt up in our 2 main cars but hardly ever in my van.

It’s used for taking the dog down the beach or the tip run and has hardly ever been outside our village. I know that I should but I’ve never got in the habit.

My road is 1/4 of a mile long and I do not put my seatbelt on til I leave the road due to the obtuse angle at the end of my road and a general lack of visibility whilst pulling out. I then belt up as soon as I'm out of the road.

Also in our massive depot you cannot reach the pass reader with a belt on. So for these 2 reasons I have a seat belt extender fitted which stops the annoying bongs.

But Vans are completely different. A competent Van driver should know when to belt up and when to remove the belt. Whilst driving the work vans I never belt up before moving off so I can lean forward freely to completely check my surroundings. I then belt up once moving.

30% of car crashes occur less than 1 mile from home, and another 35% between 1 and 5 miles ...

One reason for this could be the number of older/nervous drivers who don’t/won’t drive longer distances…

It literally takes 1 second?

I often see parents, mums particularly, driving their massive suvs with a backseat full of kids …. On their phones! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Couldn’t make it up.

65% of crashes within 5 miles of home? Thankfully I live in Wales and am unlikely to get much over 20mph.
