I have a w245 B180. I got a monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): 'Slight knocking from steering when rocked' from the last two Mots.
The mechanic said this could be anything. He said they would need to take the whole steering unit out and see what is wrong. If a replacement is needed, I could be looking at £1000 plus. What could the issue be?

- Nearside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))
