I bought a new MAF sensor and all has been well. Until now that is.
Firstly, my E200 started to behave sluggishly again so I thought I would look at the MAF sensor just in case. I found evidence of oil in the sensor itself and in the pipework. Where is this coming from and why?
Also, I have a code 102 keep appearing which is low MAF power input or something. Why is this and how can I cure it?
Once again, thanks for your help.

There is a solution to this problem.

The oil contaminates the air mass sensor. You may be able to clean it but I have tried on various air mass sensors without sucess.

The solution if you have oil in the air intake is to replace a few breather pipes and some brass breather inserts in the cylinder head and clean ALL the oil out.

It involves removing the inlet manifold, intake pipes, intercooler and cleaning it all and replacing the rerquired parts.

The brass inserts are a pig to remove but possible with the head on.

To date this repair has been sucessful. Its not cheap but cheaper than replacing air mass sensors.

One thing though. Why am I getting a code reading 102 saying low level input to mass sensor

I don't know.

That fault code makes no sense.
