They have had them, but when you try to log in it tells you. Nice, good old MS.

Yea I'v known compuls upgrades b4. Think the minimum was 4.7 before.

I made some firewall changes and assumed I'd screwed them up somewhere because MSN didn't work anymore! Looks like it wasn't the firewall after all

Microsoft Messenger back to life

Microsoft says it has fixed the problems which have plagued its instant messenger service for the last two days. It blamed an isolated problem in a data center which was fixed late yesterday.

Users have had trouble logging on and communicating since Monday afternoon. Microsoft said the problems were intermittent but had hit a "significant number" of customers. Microsoft claims 145m users for MSN Messenger.

Earlier this month Messenger was targeted by the Bropia worm virus which spread via the IM service. Microsoft said the latest outage was not due to the worm. ®

there was a version update for my mac this morning when i connected ...

however , i was the only one online in my group last night when i went online.

i can only assume it was some sort of pc related thing

I've been all morning with no bother, web messenger normally flakes out a couple times a day as thats what I have to make do with at work normally. I think they call it a 'feature'

seems to be working OK for me - just had to do the upgrade though - but seems OK.

It seams fine on my desktop...but not the laptop.

I did an update for MSN this week but I can remember which machine I did it on.

Will try and update the laptop one again.
