Although I have Bluetooth from my phone, this isn't ideal as you can't operate Spotify or any other media from the stereo.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is download a load of music on Spotify to an old phone and then plug it into the USB or MMI socket and leave it there permanently and then control it all from the stereo so that I don't have to look at a phone while driving. Is this possible? All the reviews of the MMI adaptors on Amazon suggest that this isn't possible. Has anyone managed to do what I want?

Thanks all

I have the same cable with a female USD socket the other end........£6 on eBay.........why not put all the music on a USB stick?....it will take up less glovebox space too. Thats what I have done on my 212....got about 2000 tracks on a stick so far. All can be selected from the Command and the rotary controller.....but TBH I usually just leave it on shuffle....I like surprises!!

Thanks. That is what I want to do. I haven't got much music in physical format so was hoping to use my Spotify account on an old phone. USB port definitely doesn't work so hoping MMI port will.

I used the MMI port....just with a USB adapter.

The NTG 4.5 in my previous W212 had a slot for an SD card which I used to play music I downloaded using my PC.
Not certain but I believe 64Gb was the largest card the unit accepted.
