I have come to the decision to pass my 1992 500E on to the next custodian.
This is a superb condition car, 205k km and very much more than 'well maintained'. This is a link to the recent TV showing on mainland France that shows it up pretty well I think: Direct Auto - Match Audi RS2 vs Mercedes 500E - 11/02/12 - YouTube
The ETP and harnesses (top and bottom) have been changed, A/C has just been serviced and the wheels and tyres as fitted were new earlier this year. The original 8-hole alloys have been refinished and are fitted with new Continental tyres and kept in the garage, to go with the car. Numerous other jobs have been done and duly noted in the service book.
I have every invoice and list of jobs completed since I took the car on in 2003 - either myself or the local independent specialist have done all the work where it's been too difficult without special tools / computer decoding for me to complete it.
The interior is superb, she runs as she looks and although it's been a difficult decision, it's necessary to move her along as we are moving house and it's not practical to keep the car where we're going.
The car is located close to Cannes in the South of France and the local independent, who was head tech at the local main dealership, suggested 17,500 Euro as a reasonable price and this seems in the ball-court to me, compared to others I have seen. I just completed 1000km last week into Italy on business and the car ran like a dream.
Contact me for further details or offers.
