My eldest lad's car had a new clutch fitted three weeks ago and he has done about 200 miles since. The car was running fine today but as he pulled up tonight the car just stuck in reverse. The clutch still engages though.

Any ideas would be greatly received.

Thanks,

It sounds like the selector rods detents have jammed the selectors in reverse.

A good wiggling might free them.

Manual SEat Ibiza cupra.
Justin, whilst i can be of no techincal help here, but I would say, if you handed your eldest's boy the keys to your 63, you'd be the best dad in the world, for at least the next fortnight!
PS: don't bother with the beamer, won't make the grade mate.

Hope you get it fixed, soon!

Thanks for the suggestion Ricky he had the same idea!

Check the selector rods, some VW's use a ball socket it could be as simple as popping off or could be worn bushes.

Problem solved

A piece of the air filter case had snapped off and fallen through onto the gear box! Looks like the people who fitted the clutch had over tightened it when they put it back on.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do love and American ending...
