After recently getting a rescue dog (Fred, 3 1/2 years old). It instantly became apparent that I was unable to transport him around in the SL. Even with aload of blankets etc, its not worth the risk that he would scratch the seats, dash or centre console.

So, not wanting to get rid of it, I decided to get a 2nd car. - At what number of cars does it become a Mercedes fleet? :)
With a budget of around £1-2k total, I planned on getting an old Mercedes diesel estate workhorse. An E-Class was too big for my Mrs who will be driving it also, so I opted for a S203 but it had to be a 'Sport Edtion' (basically an Avantgarde spec, with the AMG kit on it), Diesel and an Auto. I also fancied getting a project for my YouTube channel.

So, here we have my 2006, C220 cdi Estate, with AMG kit. The car currently has no MOT (suspension issues) and 176k on the clock. - I bought it Sight-Unseen so have taken a bit of a risk!.

The ulitmate plan is to get it to Germany next year and do a Lap of the Nurburgring :)

S203 (my first foray into MB) comes with a dog guard so furry friend should be able to travel in the back without problem, just get a boot liner. I bought a made to measure washable one I still use in my S204, the front part zips open for when you have the rear seats folded and the whole thing can go in the washing machine when needed. Don't know if the guy I bought from (on Ebay) still offers them.

Thanks all.

I just hope it doesn't become a money pit with and hidden horrors yet to be discovered! Got a mate with portable ramps which he is going to bring over, so we know exactly what needs replacing as far as suspension components.

Fred looks like a happy chappy.👍
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

If it's anything like my S204, get the brake lines checked, especially those hidden under the covers on the passenger side.

What a lovely looking hound 😊👌

The other strong reason for a dog car is coat shedding. The fox red that we occasionally babysit, leaves her hair everywhere whenever she travels.

A nightmare for someone who likes a clean and tidy car

She is much happier in the back of an estate too. Snooze-tastic
