Mercedes CLC 220 CDI diesel sport coupe 2010
Hi! I have bought a Mercedes CLC 220 CDI diesel sport coupe year 2010. My rear LED brake light strip on the boot lid has a couple of LEDs out. How can I fix this? Do I have to change fuse or to buy a new one? Thank you very much in advance.

Firstly, even though your a,

Probably easiest just to buy a new one, relatively easy to fit I would have thought. 🙂👍

If you own a soldering tool, take the light apart and look for corroded circuit board traces. The gasket used between the metal chassis and the plastic red lens harden with time. Small cracks enables water ingress which reaches the circuit board with the LED's.

Using small strands of wire and if careful with the soldering tool you can save some money. The gaskets are not available separately but there is lacquer friendly silicone sealant that will do the job.

On my CL, also the mechanical lock and the license plate illumination suffered from severe corrosion caused by water ingress around the LED brake light but I was able to fix those problems as well...

(Guess how I know all this...)
