On way back home at zero dark thirty this morning, driving along a B road. We enter a 40mph zone, hilly bit with a couple of blind bends.

So I am going uphill round a right hand bend to be greeted by the sight of an Audi A6 estate coming in opposite direction way, way too fast, already lost it and becoming increasingly sideways.

Bit of rapid brake work and course adjustment on my part (many thanks to whoever invented ESP) and miss by a very small margin. Audi vanishes into the darkness behind me to the sound of a very large thump

So we make our way back and.......

Audi backwards in an earth bank. Drivers door open, no sign of driver. Gone. Legged it. Buggered off.

No doubt there was reason for this, because you would need a very good one to vanish into woodland at night in the middle of nowhere.

Not inclined to look around in darkness so called Police.

Well, that is an hour and a half of my life I will not get back but a lot better than what was very nearly the alternative

Glad you are OK and indeed thank you for going back to check on the Audi driver.

There will no doubt be a follow up story in the local press soon.

Why is it that when normal people have a car accident there's blood and gore everywhere, but when a drunken scrote steals one then rolls it he can run away?

Plod came to see self and passenger today. Bit coy about the detail but they are very keen to find the registered owner and presumably driver of the vehicle, not that we could add anything to that already said

Most I got out of them though was "in connection with allegations of numerous serious offences and failure to attend court"

No wonder the driver legged it.
