Near Side Front Suspension Clunk

Had the C270 CDI (2005) back to the dealers I recently bought it from with a clunk from the nearside front suspension.
They checked the suspension and said they could not find any discernable play but would replace the usual suspect the drop link.
This was done last Friday but I'm afraid to say the clunk is still there.
I had only noticed it on small bumps and not all the time. I have however noticed that after heavy braking the nearside front suspension gave the same loud clunk as it extended itself as the car came to a halt.
Any ideas on what this could be as I would like a bit of ammunition to go back to the dealers with.
I have read many posts without being able to pip point what this could be.

Mine creaks, more like a stressed steel cord, usually when I start off, as if the suspension was stressed and settles, but it doesn't actually 'clunk'. I am told it's normal. But it is difficult to compare sounds on a website...? Is it a definite 'clunk'?

C class suspension klunk

I have the same noise. My car is a 2005 C Class 160 coupe. When I brake and go over a dip/hole in the road I get a clunk from the front drivers side suspension. Will be useful to know what this is, bit annoying in an otherwise great quiet car.

probably control arm bushes. If they have started to clunk and not caught by MOT "slack check" the control arms are probably damaged now and need replacing also..

ditto with moonloops.. and check ball joints. Oh..insist on a road test with one of MB engineers, drive till he hears it!! My experience with MB they never get it right when it comes to suspension noises. creaks, clunks, clonkings the likes are all too common in our cars nowadays..Should'nt have to live with it!!:wallbash:
