Hi all

My first post here, After about 15 years of urging I finally bought my self a 1984 230 TE Automatic in Rauchsilber color.
Wonderful car. I bought the car in Berlin and drove it straight to hamburg, about 320km and it was like a rocket, super steady on autobahn. I have now parked it in Hamburg awaiting the spring so I can import it to Sweden where I live. The car has done 360000km

The chassi is like brand new and there is literally no rust at all, the previous owner took care of all that at a professional body shop in Berlin.
As I have very little info on the engine work thats been done I will make some work that I think is necessary to be certain everything is in good shape for lots of summer driving.

This is the list I have at the moment

• oil change 10w40 mineral
• valve adjust
• check gear box oil and change if necessary
• new timing chain and tensioner
• check crank house breathing and clean if needed
• new spark plugs and wires
• check timing and idle

So my question is where do you guys buy your parts? I don't mind ordering from UK. I have been a Range Rover p38 driver for many years so I used getting parts from the UK.
Also what is the exact number of the 1984 version of the 230. I know its 102 but then there is different versions. Will the parts I listed above fit all the 102 engines or are for example the 1984 version different from the 1982 version?

Looking forward to be learning from the members her

Congratulations on a great car.

I have a 1987 - 300te 4-Matic - now fully restored. There are lots of parts still available from main dealers/MB but you need to find a good, knowledgeable, friendly parts guy who knows these cars and is willing to work with you.

I use David James @ Lookers Mercedes in Maidstone, Kent, UK. Contact Us | Lookers Mercedes-Benz of Maidstone

David is known for his expertise and knowledge on the "older" Mercs. He knows where to look and who to contact within MB. He is friendly and helpful but extremely busy. most of the time so you may have to wait to get to speak to him. It is worth that wait just to get his courteous response.

They do ship inside the UK, you would need to ask about Europe?

Do keep us up to date. Good luck.
