Hi Chaps
Well after 5 months my new car finally arrived at the weekend, it has been a long wait but most of this was down to the dealer ordering the wrong spec car!! Anyway the car in question is a Mercedes C250CDI Sport Plus with the following options:
AMG Handling Package (Big Brakes, revised steering, throttle and gearbox settings, revised suspension settings, sports Exhaust, Black Mirrors and black grill (bargain at £530)
Automatic
Palladium Silver
Full Black Leather with red stitching
Pan Roof
Command with media interface
Harman Kardon
Lighting Package
Heated Seats
Priv Glass
I managed to get a cracking deal, in the end I got nearly 22% off plus their cheap finance..
Only had it a week so still getting use to it, I am surprised at how quick the car feels once on the move. The 250 has 370ft lb which is pretty good for a 4 cylinder, there is even a offical Brabus remap that takes it to 250ish and over 400 ft lb
Interior
It's a nice place to sit, the build quality is good and I really like the way the dash looks. The seats are very similar to the AMG seats without the logo and are very nice to sit in, HK sound is good but not as good as the BMW. Command is nice, again not as good as idrive but the media interface works well. The pan roof is really, adds loads of light to the cabin and it lovely when it's open.
Engine/gearbox
This is the one bit I was unsure of, you can tell it's a 4 cylinder and low down the car can sound a little rough compared with the Audi/VW's but no different to the 320d I had for a loan car. The AMG handling package really adds a lot of kit for the money, the steering and suspension settings are really noticeable but it's the gearbox and sports exhaust that you really notice!! The way the gearbox changes gear in sport/manual mode is very very fast and is almost DSG like but with the auto smoothness. When left in E mode the gearbox is very smooth, so smooth you don't even really notice it changing. The sports exhaust really helps and does sound good although it does take a little while to get use to. It's active all the time but when you are in sports or manual mode it's a lot louder and sportier. It sort of sounds like a 3.0 6 cylinder petrol car (if you close your eyes and block out the engine)
Handling
Ok it's no 3 series but it's still good, I actually think the AMG pack brings it very close to the out going E92 but with more comfort and less bumpy over bad surfaces. On a nice twisty road it's a really nice car to drive, it has a really nice blend of sportiness and comfort especially in sport/manual mode. The suspension is adaptive but there is no button to change the settings, the gearbox sport/manual mode does but how much difference it actually makes I am not sure.
Looks
Now I really like the C coupe, I think it's nice car to look at especially in sport plus trim. I am glad I ordered the AMG package and the pan roof as it gives the car a real nice look. The black mirrors and grill are part of the pack and so are the sport badges on the front wings. The pan roof make the roof glass/all black, it looks really good with the priv glass. Once thing I am not to keen on is the size of the wheels, it would have been nice if the wheels were 19" and it sat a little lower at the back.
Technology
The HK hifi is nice, it sounds pretty good although I really don't think it's as good as the BMW. The command system is good and has some really nice touches but again it's not as good as the iDrive system and the online stuff doesn't seem to work with my iphone!!! The media interface is good and I like the way it adds the album art to a CD case
Anyway enough of me going on, here are a few pics.
