C63 Estate
Hello

I will be taking delivery of a new C63 Estate in a few months and was wondering what I should get my local valet company to apply to the bodywork to ensure protection, easy cleaning, etc. I am not keen on getting the Merc product that the dealer is trying to sell me. Would rather use a valet company that I know or, if it is easy, do it myself.

Cheers John

If it's new, you'll want to wait a while for the paint to finish curing... I was told not to do anything for 6 months or so...

I never knew that! I suppose the 6 months will give me time to save for a process that is probably quite expensive!

If you would like the car correctly protected, then I am an approved detailed & applicator for Gtechniq & Modesta crystal lacquer protections. This particular service can be found here on my website:

Glass Coat Protection Detail | GemClean

I can offer 3, 5 & 10 year protections depending on your budget & have fitted many new and old cars from mbclub with these protections. As well as paint correcting & detailing many of them. I have lots of HD videos of cars that have been completed by me and all my latest work upto the hour can be found on my company Facebook page. Just search Gemclean Detailing. Hope this helps:)

Kind Regards
Michael

I used Autoglym Extra Gloss Production. £10/pot. There's enough for 2 or 3 coats.
I applied it about a month after the car was delivered. The car remains very easy to clean 4 months later. I think winter will be a tougher test of the product.

Your best option is to get lots of wax on it until you can decide which detailer you want to use and how far you want to go with it.

Cheap and cheerful would be collinite 915. Untouchable at about £23.00 a tub.

CG 50/50 for £45.00

DJ Supernatural for £66.00

RG 55 for £68.00

Fusion £140.00

After that it starts getting expensive, but the above are my personal choices in terms of quality/durability/price.

So presumably the more expensive the better?

To me, protections are for durability and in some cases of concourse warmth of paint. The vehicles appearance will always look its best from preparation from paint correction & refinement. Coolinite has amazing durability and is very cheap. The waxes get more expensive due to purity of contents & who's name is on the label. Collinite has no where near the purity of supernatural but will last easily the same time due to its chemical formula. Supernatural is a natural pure wax and a bit of a flag ship for dodo juice. It's high quality, high carnauba content, easy to use etc. waxes are total personal choice that should also depend on how often would you like to wax the car?

What wax do people recommend?

Well the question has been answered in excellent detail but my 2p would be to work out how often and in what detail you intend to care for your car first. You also don't mention what colour the car is as some products work better on different paint. Then decide what polish you're going to use as synthetic and carnauba waxes work differently depending on what's underneath.

The Polished Bliss website is an excellent read, they have superb info on there and got me into this years ago.

The colour is palladium silver. Not sure what polish to use so any recommendations on that would also be good. Thanks.

My preference is Chemical Guys polish/glaze/sealant then Dodo Juice wax

CG Ez Creme
CG Blacklight
CG V07 Hybrid spray
DJ Supernatural wax

Shines very nicely and lasts a long time.

As mentioned before have a look at the guides on the Polished Bliss site.

All in the prep work you do with the paint to get the best results with any products really so make sure whatever you decide to use to decontaminate and clay the paint ready to apply the polish and wax.

Just finished a gtechniq new car protection on a c-class estate for an mbclub member in that colour. Write up to follow soon (with the other 5 monster write ups)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Werkstat acrylic kit yet! It's best for light cars I use it on my Polar white C coupe. It looks great on grey cars too. And around £60 very reasonable and so easy to apply you can do it yourself at home.
it comes in 3 parts so rather than bore you with the details on here it would be best to google it.

Gtechniq products are also excellent.

How about a Zaino treatment? 1 coat of All in One, Z5, Z2 and sealed with Z8.

Hi Guys, Saw some 'demon shine' on special offer. Does it actually do anything, or is it a waste of time and money?

The Detailing World website is worth a visit for info on sealants/ waxes etc but beware - OCD may be contagious.

For the old heaps I run round in, it's Bilt Hamber clay bar for cleaning, then Auto-Glym SRP (super resin polish) + Collinite 476 wax to finish. Good results for not too may £s.
