New E class coupe pictures

I'm wiping the projectile vomit off my screen as I type.

That rear wheel arch is hidoeous.

That's what I thought when I saw pictures of the new E Class, the rear wheel arch is very old fashioned. I suppose the new CLK, sorry E class coupe has to have them too.

Is the E Class coupe not the new CLK then?

I think you are correct. But unlike the previous 2 CLKs which were based on the C class Saloon chassis ( hence the "C" in CLK) the new coupe will be based on the new E class chassis ( which in itself might be a "stretched" C class?? ) meaning a slightly larger car. Mercedes may then chose to more accurately name the new car the "ELK" -----well on second thoughts -- maybe not;) but maybe rename it the E class coupe like the ol W124 Series  Who knows but a bigger mid range coupe might spell the demise/ postponement of the next generation CL in today's motoring climate.

The C in CLK stands for Coupe, depite sharing any C Class underpinnings.
The interior ambience was more in line with the E Class, however this proved difficult for Mercedes as some thought the price was too high for what they saw as a C Class coupe instead of a coupe that was meant to be of higher standing.

It is for this reason that the new CLK is to become the E Class coupe, then no-one can say it is too expensive as it will be seen as an E class and not C class as before.

I think it looks great, not so sure about the extra bit of trim in the rear window though.

This car looks fresh but will have a short life.. it looks soo radical for a classy merc and for the fashion concious it will be a hit, but values will plummet, whilst my cood ol w124 cabrio continues to appreciate

Happy New Year

Its obviously disguised but it does look very Honda Accord Coupe'esc!!

Its a must see in flesh before deciding whether I like it or not car....

Looks nice. I take it that it is pillarless?

Looking forward to taking one for a test drive. I always like the older e-class coupes, both 123 and 124, and even the older ones come to think of it. Never entirely convinced by the current CLK, even thought it does look nice.

So this means that the CLK as we know it, i.e. based on the c-class chasis will be deleted from the range?

At least we can see where they got the inspiration for the rear wheelarch styling.

That silly little rear quarter light shows they really ran out of ideas, introducing a stylistic compromise in an attempt to disguise duff engineering.
