Hi Folks, I joined the forum last week and posted about some issues I had with my EQC, but overlooked this introduction.
Firstly let me say I have been a 'petrolhead' since the 60's, too many cars to list but started with a 66 Ford Corsair, the V4 model, and progressed through to Magnum's, RS2000, VX's, Alfasud etc, that is until the wife and kids came along!
After many years of sensible Escorts, Polo's, etc, and once the kids had grown and the job started to pay better I moved up in the the car food chain to Audi A6's, after three of them I tried a BMW 520, and about 6 years ago bought an E250d (W212) and have not looked beyond Mercedes since. Next was an E350e (W213) which last Nov turned into the EQC, probably as far up the chain as I will ever go!
I have read all the negative comments re electric cars, but this is evolution, the same process that defines the differences between my first Ford and my last Petrol Mercedes, other than having a steering wheel and four wheels there are no similarities, and it's a stretch not to link the effect oil exploration and production has had in the world compared to the issues re minerals for batteries!
This is a car forum and as far as cars go the EQC is fantastic, its expensive, heavy, and costly to insure, but an absolute treat to drive, performance is exceptional (400 BHP with no lag) and quiet, very quiet, no fuel costs and has some unique driving features. I know it is limited to 112mph, but seriously who does that nowadays! As with everything it will not suit all, but for me it's perfect (apart from the problems). Roll on the new models!
If you have not tried an EV, you should.
