New facelift Vito v/s Old

1st post on here, I have been running my 2007 111 for 3/half years and have 80k on the clock. Overall its been excellent but im considering a change next spring for the Exra long van . Other than the cosmetics, what are the other changes? Im told it will have the sprinter engine in and be more economic. Should I wait for the new model or try grab a bargin old style one as i guess they will want rid of the old stock.Any thoughts appreciated

Top of the range among the diesel engines is the V6 in the Vito 122 CDI, which combines smooth running with impressive output and high tractive power. With a power output of 224 hp.

There are a few threads here with details & pics. of the facelift Vito.

Basically some cosmetic & suspension tweaks, and retuned engines (as mentioned the V6 goes from 204 to 224 bhp, but I assume on the other models the aim is reduced emissions and/or improved MPG). It gets steel front wings too, rather than plastic.

switch gear is different too the 122 is a very nice drive alot better then previos models

@ work i have a long list of difference in the modesl plus extras

most notealbe

Facelift lights and wings front bumper and grille (on Viano new rear lights and rear bumpers)
New 5 spoke 17s
new steering wheel, switch gear seats and stereo (i believe most have blutooth)
revised suspension
the OM651 amnd rework and improved OM642 (btw these are same engines as the 09 sprinters as 06>09 had the same engines as the outgoing Vito any which are all basically the same engines used in the Mercedes CDI cars)
new suspension
exhausts etc probley more
a intresting option is the Bi Xeaon headlamps with LED running lights.
and all the usal extras like phone intergration command systems etc.
Very nice vans but also bear in mind some dealers will have new stock of the older model going cheap to make way for new ones and probley quite a few trade ins too so maybe other deals to be had.

I have just ordered 116 dueliner auto, had a go in the 113 and the ride difference from my 06, 111 is very noticeable plus is also a lot quieter. You almost think you are driving a different van. Can't wait to get it, shame its not due for delivery till feb.

My new 113 has just arrived in the UK and is going through PDI at the dealer, so i'm picking it up 4th Jan which is a nice new years present, I hav'nt seen any on the road yet ... I will post some photos once i get my hands on her

I gather from our local dealer there are still a lot of old stock around. Thats why there are not many new ones around even though the launch was in October. Our dealer only has one new Vito in but lots of the old ones.

we had a few supplied in ocotber to our sales manager and couple select customers as the offical release date in the UK was Jan 2011 as they were running a promotion on the pre facelift.

I have had mine for a week now, really pleased with it, Mercedes have "pushed the boat out" with this model and the ride is much better than the previous version .. also the interior has a more quality feel about it .. nice touch with the standard bluetooth as well

My old one was manual and i have gone for automatic ... if anyone is thinking of buying a vito please please please buy the auto .. the manual box is rubbish clunky and notchy

My dealer "forgot" to put on the factory order my electric wing mirrors, which can't be retrofitted .. it would of meant ordering another complete vehicle ... they gave me chrome side bars in the way of compensation .. so i didnt do too bad out of the deal .. they are fitting them next week for me

Chrome front grille is not available yet, but i have been told you can get them from Mercedes Car Dealers for the Viano

Oh forgot to mention its got the new Euro 5 engine, which would of meant the roadtax would only be £125.00 a year .. that was until the government scrapped this rule 31st December 2010 meaning its now £200.00 ... grrr they are after every penny they can squeeze out of us

Looks good. Still got the empty recess on the front door moulding though ... why oh why don't they put a "Vito" badge in there as standard?!

I know what you mean Bill, i asked them about that on my last one, apparently that is only used for the Viano "elegance" and "executive" models on their car range ... its madness i mean what would it cost for the just to put Vito in there

Mind you can get a badge off E-bay for £22.00 a pair .. but why should you have to? Merc could probably put them on for pennies

Yup you are already paying £££ extra for the colour-coded bumpers, so not to include the badges is unbelievably mean IMHO!

The 'standard' (not colour-coded) side mouldings don't have the recess, so it's not even as if it would cost them a few pennies extra on ALL Vitos

As an aside the parts dept. of S&B Commercials (M-B dealership) have an eBay shop and are very helpful indeed ... I've used them a fair bit:

You paid THAT youve been stiched up you could order from a dealer alot cheaper
The grilles currently take a max of 3 to 4 days to come thru retail £86 i think and commercial dealers can order then as i have done so for a customer.

If you have any question about stuff like this for Vitos im willing to pm people my work e-mail address and help whereever poss and maybe even assit in supply.

My Vito is at one of my converter customers having my seating system installed, i'm picking it up next Friday

Funny i picked up a hire car why my Vito is away .. the hire company were pleased as punch to say "we have given you a free upgrade to a Seat Exeo" and were not impressed when i said " i have never heard the words "Seat" and "Upgrade used the same sentance before" lol
