I’ve fitted a Bosch MAP sensor (brand new from Europarts) and the car goes in to limp and throws up code P0234 and goes into limp. Never had that code before.
Put the old Merc MAP back on and no code or limp.
Do you think it is duff or does the car need time to adjust or something else?

What car is it?

Is it a genuine Bosch one (ECP apparently have some history on Chinese suppliers.....)

If the old part works why was it changed?

It’s been throwing up an o2 code (p0132) for ages which can sometimes be an indicator the MAP is faulty and as it’s much simpler and cheaper to change I have it a go. Just worried that the new one gave up a new code and limp.

Refit the old one and change the O2 sensor?

You can look up live data from SD it will show if O2 sensors are acting up or maybe there is something different that it might cause sinilar issue

Its a cheapo MAF. Thats the probem despite what the box sais on it. They are very picky with them sensors including the intake temp sensor which does the same if u replace with a cheapo.

The OP stated MAP not MAF.........

Defo MAP sensor not MAF. It is branded BOSCH on their website and on the sensor itself but the car did not like it. It felt like it was holding on to the gears for longer before changing and then went limp with that code (P0234).

I was going from post 1. Exact same applies to any of the sensors in the system though. Think we know how sensitive the ECU's are with the slightest diffirence in signal/voltages (cheap sensors) Including bosch ones that came from china. I had a problem few yrs back. After sorting out original issues I had instigated a new issue by replacing the map sensor which was throwing a code. It was somebody in here that suggested put the old one back in and i thought hey i might aswell give it a go and the code was kicked up by the new sensor. put old one back in and it was ok. Why did i change the MAP sensor in the first place........well because i had an intermittent limp mode fault which was traced to dpf and maf issues. replacing the basic components is where I started. In the end the MAP sensor was one of the replaced components that was actually good.

We always fit genuine MB sensors as the aftermarket ones often don't work properly.
