Hi folks
I'm New to the Forum and if you guessed I have a problem with my new to me c220 deisel
I have good general car knowledge but very little specific to mercedes.
I've picked up a 2011 c220 deisel, it had warnings on the dashboard but i took his word that it was just 2 faults.
1 abs sensor, didn't know what corner
2 dpf needed resetting after changing the sensor.
So I have found the that the ring on the nearside rear is almost complete gone.
And that the fill level for dpf is at 345%. Car was not in limp mode and seemed to drive fine.
I've done a Forced regen and was able to see it clear some soot and drop to 0% on the scan tool I had borrowed,,
Eml light has stayed off so far with about 100miles done.
But I am now having running issues, the car seems to rev slightly erratic at low speeds. And gets a bit jerky when it happens,, also at times feel like it won't rev up unless I change down gears etc.
(manual gearbox)
So as I have not gotten around to changing the abs ring and the esp lights etc are still on, could that cause the running issues or is there another likely cause?
Thanks folks

Welcome Eddiemc11

Sorry I can't help with your problem, but I'm sure someone will be along with the correct advice in due course.

Good luck.

Welcome, not able to help but I'm sure someone on here will give you the information you need

The ABS ring shouldn't cause the problem you describe. The ABS and ESP can obviously cause a crash if they operate incorrectly, and this is why the system disables itself at the slightest sign of a fault (or voltage drop). And so, if you see the ABS and ESP lights on the dash, then the system has been deactivated and most likely isn't the cause of your other issue.

Was this a private sale or dealer?

If dealer then if they are new faults to the ones existing that you were made aware of then they are liable, possibly also liable for the ABS issue because it seems to be more than just "a sensor" as they described it.

Hi
Oh it was a private sale.
I've had another fiddle with a scanner today, but nothing really stands out except the charge pressure reading in engine control is about 20% lower than its set value.
Could this be a possible air intake leak?

It could be or it could be many other things. Modern Diesel engines have multiple sensors.

The best advice is to take it to a local Mercedes specialist with Star or Xentry (MB Specialised diagnostics) and get a proper diagnosis.

I see you're in Northern Ireland.
Not sure of a local MB indi over there, but best to find one else you'll play parts darts...

Thanks, yes but I do like to do my own work whilst picking your brains,
I might very well end up taking it to a Mercedes specialist but il rule out everything I find myself 1st,
And today I found another 2 issues, hoping that this will be the culprit, see pic,
Oh and who the hell cut off the fins on the interior heater blower, ffs...
OK I heard it was noisy but i think to sell the car the previous owner cut the fins off to make it quiet, absolute numpty,, IMG_20230218_151346.jpg

Would this hose cause the running issues? Drove it today and symptoms are worse, car not revving about 3krpm at times, really kicks back,
I can see the part number in the hose, A212 528 0882
Is there a recommended aftermarket alternative to a genuine hose?
Thanks

In terms of symptoms, similar to something I struggled with, car was often in a kind of limp mode, but not a full limp, would happily do 70 mph all day long, just took ages to get there (wouldn't kick down unless on the paddles etc - it reset itself when the engine was switched off but came back on 50% of journeys. I was going to investigate the turbo actuator as an over/under boost can cause it apparently but just got used to driving around the problem. Then I had an injector seal go and had 3 replaced and most of the issue cleared up. So, my thoughts would be to check error codes post this limp mode to see if anything related to turbo pressures (my car is the V6 diesel so not sure if the 4 cylinder diesel has a turbo actuator). Secondly, do you get any diesel smell in the cabin as that was the first tell tale for me that the injector seal was on its way a long time before it made any noise.

Ps welcome by the way.

Looking at that part number, it's a charger hose from the intercooler I think so a leak could maybe give a sensor an under/over boost reading (I'm surmising there as not a technical expert). In terms of parts, I have found most are actually as cheap from MB as aftermarket. Just bought a PCV valve from MB for about £8 more than aftermarket so I get a lot from MB. That does not however include ABS sensors which are crazy prices at MB so I went to parts in motion for those

Why go aftermarket?

The MB part will fit properly and, if original, has lasted nearly 12 years.

Hiya
Thanks for your advice, my issue does sound similar,
Like just back from a run there, car drove terribly, then without warning goes well, steering very light when it's feels under powered, then it goes stiffer and i get plenty of power,
For about 10 miles it would pull, then it picks up and goes well.
I pulled in after it was going well just to see what would happen if I switched it off,
As soon as I restarted and drove it drove terrible again,
Also it seemed to help when I turned eco off,, not sure if that's anything,,,
Injectors all nice and dry,

All about cost at this stage.
Im a new owner to mercedes and the parts list is getting bigger,
Ive not even done 200 Miles in it yet and its already stressing me out lol

How much is the part from Mercedes?

Im not sure, il price it tomorrow, online they're around £200
Mercedes can be surprising on their prices at times.
