Hi,

Yet another new member to the MBClub!!

I guess I should have introduced myself before attempting to post a new message, but we all make mistakes!

So my name is David Aistrup, I live in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and I own a 55 plate CL500 (W215) which currently has a problem with the cruise control - i.e. when I try to set it over 54 mph, it turns itself off.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks.

Have you changed tyres recently?

Are the tyres at one end very worn compared to the other end?
Hi,

Many thanks for your reply.

No, the tyres are not worn.

The cruise developed the problem around 2 months ago and would only set up to about 30 mph.

My mechanic told me that the most common reason for the cruise problem is a faulty brake switch, which I asked him to replace.

He has replaced the brake switch and I can now set the cruise up to 54 mph, but it turns itself off at an higher speed.

So my mechanic has now suggested changing the cruise control unit. Does anyone know where this is located on the car??

Hi,

I also thought that might be the cause of the problem, so I increased the speed limiter to 120 mph but it hasn't had any effect on the cruise control.
Cruise control and speed limiter do not work at the same time. It'll not be that.

Could be an abs ring on one of the wheels.
