New Merc Tesla rival and GT4?

I have read a couple of articles with regard to Mercedes producing an all electric Tesla rival car and a GT4 (4 door AMG GT/CLS). Is this true.

Up until recently Daimler held a stake in Tesla and were technical partners. Underneath the Tesla you will find suspension very similar to the E class. Inside the Tesla you will find all Mercedes switchgear.

It seemed that MB were contributing all the 'traditional' car components and Tesla the electric drive which MB benefited from.

Once MB sold their share in Tesla, I presumed it was only a matter of time until they launched their own rival.

Teslas will remain the sales leader for high mileage range though, because of the supercharger network. Unless public charging infrastructure scales up quickly
