Very nice, very stealthy
Out of interest, given the hype, what was the story with the XE?
Endless problems from the day of purchase unfortunately.
Large scratches on collection and water filled brake lights. Then the entire electrical system developed Gremlins, with the Sat Nav not starting when needed, the parking sensors would come on and beep continuously during driving on open roads. The keywords locking ceased to work. The infotainment software crashed constantly and after a "user experience enhancement" upgrade it ceased working completely !
The final straw was the auto gearbox requiring a new one after 12k ! ... took 5 weeks at the dealers to decide and then do nothing, at this point I decided enough was enough and moved on to Mercedes. When I went back to collect my car the dealer had washed it and scratched it all over. Turns out their contractors had car washed it prior to my collection.
It took several weeks of complaining until the dealer accepted responsibility and brought the car back (at almost market value).
The customer service at Jaguar was shocking ..... not what I expected when I entered the palatial showroom.
The XE was a lovely car to look at, bit bland inside but the drive was good for the first few months. It was a little quicker and sharper to drive on country roads ... but the seating has so uncomfortable ! ... I had the R Sport with standard seats and the lack of support made then awful on long journeys. The Mercedes is gorgeous inside and the seats are so sumptuous and comfy ... no comparisons !
The Mercedes experience of buying and support was everything I could have hoped for. The local dealer was excellent ... I hope it continues.
