New owner of a 1995 R129

Hello all,

I bought a 1995 R129 SL500 in black - its my first SL and I have to say -I love the drive and compared to my previous car (2000 CL500) its much more nimble.

Proper old school - still has the performance!

Thanks! Yes, definately best colour. Beige interior which I don't mind.

It has lots of history and was originally bought by some banker in the City.
The drive to work and back is awesome!
Looking forward to driving with the roof down when its warmer.

Thanks - yes, will post some pictures over weekend..I'm planning on refurbishing the alloys - maybe lower it slightly to finish it off..it needs some rust patches sorting out too

Congrats on the new car, I've got a soft spot for the R129's great choice of car. As you say, even nicer once the days get a little warmer

Where are they? Rust is pretty rare on R129s.

Some pictures of my R129. Took the pics when my mechanic friend was diagnosing a climate control problem..climate control fan only works on speed 1. Doesn't work on speed 2,3 or 4.
Also, wiper only works on high speed only...doesn't work on normal/semi speed. So, will find out sometime this week what parts I need.
Apart from those niggles, the car ticking over beautifully. Sound engine.

Where are they? Rust is pretty rare on R129s.

Same location as on my 300SL and SL500 - was very common to see in that location when I was looking too

very nice car.. people can get snobby about having a new car, but id have this over loads of models and tbh its not even old.. the rims are nice i have a diamond cut set of those spare..
