New S Class

I don't believe that there is any European legislation as yet regarding screen placement - the change is being driven by our litigation-happy neighbours from over the pond. Too many liability claims based on "I didn't see XXXXX, was looking down at the screen that the wicked manufacturer fitted in my car to distract me from driving".......

Mind you, bound to lead to legislation soon

Finally, finally found where I read about the siting of the new COMAND.

August edition of Mercedes Enthusiast ;)

Just to wind Andy-K up............ Page 25 New Rules

A new set of ergonomic regulations come into play inside. Any display screen has to be within 30 degrees below the driver's line of sight - in other words high on the dash - to minimise the eyes' time away from the road.

It does not mention what regulations, or when they come into force, I have spent ages going through numerous articles, magazines, as I hate saying things that might be wrong.
