Hi can any one tell me the differences between the A class and B Class Mercedes. Is one cheaper to run, has one got more equipment, or higher spec, do they both have the same engine ?

Depends on which model year and engine variant. I seem to recall they used to be based on the same platform. A class is small , B class is practical. A class also has saloon variant these days. Also look at GLA, CLA and GLB variants as they're all built on that similar platform i think. So it's up to you regarding which engine you pick. I cant imagine the MPG being hugely different but the A class will slightly edge the B. They will have very similar engine options i expect

Mercedes-Benz A-Class:
* This is generally classified as a compact car, available as a hatchback or sedan.
* It emphasizes style and a sportier driving experience.
* It caters to those who prioritize a sleek design and a more dynamic feel.
* It is geared towards a younger demographic.
* Mercedes-Benz B-Class:
* This is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
* It prioritizes practicality, interior space, and versatility.
* It offers a higher driving position and more headroom, making it suitable for families or those who need extra cargo space.
* It is geared toward people that need more interior room.
Here's a breakdown of the key distinctions:
* Design and Style:
* The A-Class has a more streamlined, sporty aesthetic.
* The B-Class has a taller, more upright profile, emphasizing functionality.
* Interior Space:
* The B-Class provides significantly more interior space, especially in terms of headroom and cargo capacity.
* The A-class has a more compact interior.
* Practicality:
* The B-Class is designed for practicality, making it ideal for families or those who require ample cargo space.
* The A-Class is more focused on personal use.
* Driving Experience:
* The A-Class generally offers a sportier, more engaging driving experience.
* The B-class is geared toward comfortable and easy driving.
In essence, if you're looking for a stylish, compact car with a sporty feel, the A-Class is a good choice. If you need a practical, spacious vehicle for family use or carrying cargo, the B-Class is the better option.

In my vw the current A class looks more classy than B class. The B class looks as though it's for people like me, ie oldies. Having said that,
The B class to me is a case of Marmite, you like it or you don't.
B class advtange other than size is you sit slightly higher up.

I have 2 b class both 180 CDI diesel. I did try the A class but felt more comfortable in the b class. Both cars are 2010 models. If I decide on a newer car it would be another b class. Forgot to say I'm 75 this year.😀

Many thanks for all replies, plenty of food for thought.
