Depends on which model year and engine variant. I seem to recall they used to be based on the same platform. A class is small , B class is practical. A class also has saloon variant these days. Also look at GLA, CLA and GLB variants as they're all built on that similar platform i think. So it's up to you regarding which engine you pick. I cant imagine the MPG being hugely different but the A class will slightly edge the B. They will have very similar engine options i expect
