Woo Hoo !! :bannana:

Just got the car back from having the new shocks put in it ..... and what a difference...

It would seem that the joker who owned the car before me, had put lowering springs in but left the original shocks  , so in went the set of Bilsteins for lowered cars.... and now its joy !!

Its no longer like driving a magic carpet, with Rowntree's jelly suspension, its firmed things up nicely and it doesn't seem too 'crashy' a ride......

An aside..... i was having problems you may remember with the car stalling when cold http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=21267&highlight=cold+start it seems it was (forgive me if i get this wrong but i can't remember) the over voltage relay or something.... anyway , this is changed and now thats joy too... its like having a new car again. !

So, its all good !

Shocking!

Nice one Howard, glad to see the Magic Carpet effect has gone. ;)

I noticed a mild "thump" from the front left the other day as I went over a speed bump. My first impressions were that this is damper related. Might get them replaced as the first upgrade on the old barge.

Any advice? Are Bilsteins the brand of choice? Ta. :)

Bilsteins

For my money Billies are the best dampers you can buy

They do a comfort and a sport version for the W124 plus about 34,000 other versions which you could choose from if you really felt like researching it

Original equipment on the car was probably Sachs or Bilstein. Whatever they were when they rolled off the production line was top quality because I don't think I've ever driven a W124 with new shocks

Come to the next GTG Nick and you can drive mine .... :D

There's a few of us on here who are w124 coupe owners who have fitted new shocks... mainly revalved Bilsteins for lowered cars...

Ray ( kikkthecat ) , Janner , Me , etc

So far, seems good ....

Howard - can you test my OVP relay in your car to see if the symptoms return?

... or can I try yours in mine, I just want to rule it out of the equation for my recent poor runing.

Agree... mine is still on original shocks (Although KwikFit said they needed changing 12 years ago  )

If you know how to do it Sp!ke, then you're welcome to try , but i have no idea i'm working Monday to Wednesday this week 6 am to 2 pm , so i could pop round one afternoon or evening if you like , or anytime on Thursday or Friday ....

EDIT : - not tuesday as have just been given freebie tickets to Joss Stone at Hammersmith..... might be good for a giggle...
