New Watercooled PC Build - Project

Before I decided to go Watercooled that's what I was going for, I don't know if your aware but they also do a H70 model. (Two fans and a larger radiator if I remember correctly).

To be honest this machine hasn't come about out of necessity, the PC I already have was probably far better than most PCs in the average household, for me this has been a personal challenge (having never watercooled before) and is a project to challenge me and to try and make something which is a bit special, something which doesn't have compromise and has had a lot of time and effort put into it, I.E. something that's come together out of pride and hard work.

Final spec should be something along the lines of:

Corsair 800D Case
i7 950 3.06GHz CPU
EK Supreme HF Plexi Nickel CPU Block
Asus Rampage III Motherboard
EVGA GTX 580 Hydro Copper 2 GPU (will add a 2nd later on)
Creative XFI Soundcard
12GB Corsair DDR 2000Mhz (currently 6GB)
120GB Corsair SSD HDD (will possibly add a second and slower, larger storage HDDs)
LG Blu-Ray Writer/Reader Drive
Lamptron FC5 V2 Fan Controller
XSPC 360 Radiator
Laing D5 Pump with Bitspower Mod Top (V2)
iandh 225 Stealth Reservoir
Tygon R3603 Tubing
Feser One Fluid
Bitspower Compression Fittings
MDPC-X Sleeving, Screws & Cable Clips

:eek::eek: that must have set you back a bit.

Im assuming DDR3 memory, also is the water cooled system a lot quieter then conventional fan cooled? if so then i may consider doing the same as my fans make way to much noise.

Also can you run a pc on just water cooling only, without any fans, i know you can but at the spec your building, do you think it can be acheived, without killing the components?

I love that case! Been after one for a while, how do you rate it now you've been using it with hardware?

Nice build, I've just finished my new build, liquid cooling has been a staple of my builds for a while now as I overclock.

I'm running an i7 930 with 16gb ddr3 and dual gtx 280 in sli
60gb ssd

Obviously all overclocked to buggery.

Why?

I get bored through the day, this is the fourth build in six months...

Contact with cold water is much more efficient that having a fan try and suck/blow air around. It's still preferable to have the odd case fan to keep the rest of the case cool however, and then you'll have the fans on the radiators too.

The case fans can be cooling the rad at the same time, cuts down on the number of fans and noise

The case is fantastic, I spent a long time deciding which one to go for and I love it. Bags and bags of room and neat features.

The key is to go for low rpm fans and a radiator that works well with them, I've gone for Scythe Gentle Typhoons (1450rpm) which I forgot to put on the spec list, oh and the 1200W Corsair PSU.

The link in post 21, the system is sealed and the fluid is simply recirculated. It's not normally water but a glycol mix.
